Web application development in Montreal

Business applications, SaaS products and dashboards built with Laravel. A single cross-platform application, usable on computers, tablets and phones, with a scope written down before we start.

When a website is no longer enough

Your users need to track files, book appointments, or see their data in a space of their own. A business website can’t carry that, and a large development firm would be out of proportion.

At Digilia, a web application is built with Laravel: accounts, roles, screens and data. The project can be split into phases, from the first version to later improvements, and we support you from development to deployment.

What we build

An application can serve the general public, your business clients or your internal team. It can also serve all three at once, each with their own access. To connect tools that already exist, we also develop integrations and APIs.

Consumer applications

A service open to everyone: sign-up, profile, online payment, notifications. Simple to use and fast, on a phone as well as on a computer.

Internal tools

An application for your team: files, statuses, dashboards, exports. It replaces shared files and repetitive tasks.

Platforms for your B2B clients

A space for your business clients: accounts per company, roles, data isolated per client, subscriptions. It is the foundation of a SaaS product.

What is included

Written scope

Screens, roles, business rules and features described before development.

Automated tests

Unit and feature tests on every user flow, errors included, run again with every change.

Accounts and access

Passwords, sign-in with a Google account or another provider (OAuth), two-factor authentication, roles and access limited to what each person needs to see.

Data governance

Only the data that is strictly needed, hosting chosen with you (in Canada if required), access and retention periods documented. Quebec’s Law 25 and the GDPR are taken into account from the design stage.

Documentation

Features and operations documented (installation, deployment, backups), for your team or another developer.

Independence

Code, repository, domain name and hosting are in your name. Another developer can take over the application whenever you want: the quality of our work should be enough to keep you.

An application delivered in releases

The first version does one thing well: the user flow that justifies the project. The breakdown is written into the scope before development, and each following version is priced separately.

In the first version

The features you need at launch: accounts and roles, the screens of the main user flow, the data it handles and the admin to manage it.

In later versions

Advanced reports, connections with other tools, automations. They are added once the first version is in use, based on what your users do with it.

Integrations and APIs

How a web application project works

An analysis of your project comes before the quote: users, features, business rules and phases are described in it. You know what each version will contain before development begins.

  1. Scoping

Users, goals, existing tools and hosting constraints: we describe what the application will do and split it into phases.

  2. Design

Screens, roles, business rules and data for the first version, approved with you before development.

  3. Development and testing

Laravel development on a staging environment, automated tests at every step and regular demos with your test accounts.

  4. Going live

Deployment, monitoring, documentation handed over and administrator training, with a video to keep. Later versions start from there.

Questions about web applications

Yes, but we favour a cross-platform web application that can be installed like an app (PWA). A single codebase runs on phones, tablets and computers, installs on the home screen and updates without going through the App Store or Google Play. If a native app is essential, we discuss it during scoping.

Laravel is a proven PHP framework, among the most widely used for web applications. It provides the essentials of solid software: authentication, queues, scheduled tasks, automated tests, online payments with Stripe. Its ecosystem (Livewire for reactive interfaces, Forge for servers) and its large community make the code easy to maintain and to hand over.

Yes. The connection (API, SSO, CRM) falls under integrations, and it is priced in the same quote if the project calls for it. Tell us which tools you work with: we will tell you what can be connected.

It depends on the technology. After reviewing the code, we tell you whether we are the right people.

From internal tools to SaaS products, the size varies a lot. After analyzing your request, we propose a breakdown into phases, a fixed-price quote for the first version and a realistic timeline.
