WordPress design and development in Montreal

We build fast WordPress sites, with few plugins and sections you can easily edit from the admin interface. A new site, a redesign, a WooCommerce store or a bilingual site.

When a WordPress site becomes hard to manage

The story comes up often. The site was delivered quickly, with a page builder and one plugin per need: slideshow, popup, gallery, backups. Two years later, an update breaks a page and changing a paragraph takes a phone call or a support ticket.

Hiring a WordPress developer in Montreal is first about getting out of that situation, or never getting into it. The site updates without surprises and stays fast once the real content is in place. Your text, your images and your pages, you manage them yourself, without waiting for anyone. For everything else, we are here.

Fewer plugins, a better WordPress theme

What you use every day is built into the theme. A plugin only gets in when rebuilding it would be a bad idea.

A custom theme

We develop the theme for your site, from the design approved with you. No purchased theme, no page builder that locks in your content.

As few plugins as possible

Every plugin added to WordPress is code you will have to update, monitor and pay for. We keep proven tools (Gravity Forms, WPML or Polylang, WooCommerce) and build the rest into the theme.

Sections that are easy to edit

Each section matches a piece of content on your pages: a team, an offer, a testimonial. You change the text and the image, and you choose from the planned variations (size, image side, colour). You cannot break the design, which happens quickly with a page builder.

Ready for other languages

Your site can launch in French, in English or in both. Its structure takes one more language without starting over: URLs, menus, metadata and theme text are ready for a multilingual WordPress site.

WooCommerce if you sell

Catalogue, payment, taxes and shipping, only if you need them. The store stays as fast as the rest of the site.

Shopify or WooCommerce?

Speed is decided in the theme

Code, images, fonts and scripts are optimized from the start of development. Not with a caching plugin added the week of launch.

Speed optimization

What is included

The same standards on every WordPress site, at no extra cost.

One point of contact

The person who replies to you is the one who develops your site. You never explain anything twice and no project manager relays your request: you save time on every exchange.

SEO and tracking

Semantic structure, metadata, structured data, sitemap and planned redirects. Search Console, Tag Manager and GA4 set up to fit your needs, or the tracking tool you already use.

Accessibility

Everyone should be able to use your site, including people with disabilities. We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA: contrast, keyboard navigation, alternative text, screen readers.

Security

Controlled updates, web application firewall, reduced attack surface. With your agreement, Cloudflare protection filters bots and attacks before they reach the site. Every plugin removed is one less way in.

Privacy and consent

Consent banner, cookies set only after the visitor agrees, forms that collect only what is needed. The site is configured for Quebec’s Law 25 and, if you have European customers, for the GDPR.

Independence

Domain name, hosting and administrator access are in your name. You remain free to change providers at any time: we would rather keep you through the quality of our work than through constraints.

How a WordPress project works

An analysis of your project comes before the quote, which details the pages, features and plugins planned. You know exactly what will be delivered, and you test editing before launch.

  1. Scoping

Analysis of your goals, your content and your tools, then a description of what the site will do: site map, templates, features, languages and integrations. The quote prices this precise scope, with no range.

  2. Development

The theme and its sections are developed for your site, with only the planned plugins. You test editing on a staging environment, not just the visuals.

  3. Launch

Training on editing, with a video you keep. Then launch: redirects checked, a full crawl of the site and a check of the measurement tools.

Questions about a WordPress project

As few as possible: usually 6 to 8 for a business website, up to about twenty for a complex site (store, subscriptions, member area, online learning). We keep proven plugins for forms, translation, SEO, security or commerce, and we build the rest into the theme. You get the details in the quote.

Yes, it is a delivery requirement. Each type of content has its section: you change the text, the images and the planned variations without risking breaking the layout. Training is included, with a video you keep.

Yes, if it is well built and well maintained: its security depends mostly on the plugins installed and on how regularly it is updated. Few plugins and protected forms limit the risks. No site is invulnerable: maintenance keeps that level over time.

Each project is estimated in hours, at $125 an hour, then sold at a fixed price. The price and the timeline depend on the number of templates and pages, the languages, the features and the state of the content. The quote sets them on a written scope.

Not necessarily. We first analyze the current site and what it runs on (theme, plugins, hosting), to recommend the best option for both cost and longevity. If a fresh install is needed, we tell you frankly and explain why. A redesign then carries over what deserves to be kept, starting with the pages that already bring in traffic.
